Sharon Tankel, President

Meet the President 

Sharon Tankel, President - Sharon first started working in the glass business while in high school and college during school vacations, but she started full time in 1986 after graduating from UMASS Amherst. 

Sharon has enjoyed working in all aspects of the glass business. Her responsibilities have included working in the office, customer service, bidding, on-the-road sales, and bookkeeping.

Sharon was the past president of the Massachusetts Glass Dealers Association and a Chairperson for the MGDA Scholarship committee. Coincidentally, Sharon met her husband Richard in 1985 in New York City while both were attending a glass convention. 

Richard was working at his family’s glass business, Lo-Can Glass International at the time. Sharon enjoys sports, including tennis and swimming, and spending time with family.
Richard Carver, Vice President

Vice President

Richard Carver, Vice President - Richard remembers going to work with his father at a very young age. By the early 1970s, Richard was working on the trucks during school while he attended Boston College. 

With the increase in business in the late 1970s, Richard eventually came into the office to run the service department, and he also learned how to bid. After Richard graduated from Boston College, it wasn't long before he was running the company.
 
Richard served as the President of the Massachusetts Glass Dealers Association, he also served as Treasurer then President of the Massachusetts Glass Employers Group of Greater Boston, and is a board member on both. Richard enjoys running, bike riding, and vacationing with family.
Randy Ibbitson, General Manager

General Manager

Randy Ibbitson, General Manager - Before Randy became a glazier, he worked in construction and as a carpenter until he joined the Glazier’s Union in 1995. In October of 2000, Randy joined the Hub Glass Team and worked in the field as a glazier.

When Richard offered Randy an estimating position, he accepted it and from there was promoted to General Manager. Randy’s attention to detail keeps our service operations running smoothly. Randy enjoys golf and spending time with his family.

James Burke - Estimator / Project Manager
We are pleased to welcome Jim Burke to Hub Glass’ dynamic estimating team. Jim brings with him a diverse background in the glazing industry and many years of experience.

Jim started his career in the glass business in 1979. Jim’s early jobs included working for the Permasteelisa Group, a worldwide contracting, manufacturing, and engineering company, and Ferguson Nuedorf Glass. Jim also gained experience working at Karas and Karas Glass in Boston, Boston Plate Glass, Rubin Glass, and Malden Glass. But fortunately for us, Jim came to Hub Glass in 1997 as a glazier and now holds the position of Estimator and Project Manager. Jim has extensive experience in glass and glazing installations, and his attention to detail makes him a great addition to our professional estimating team. A graduate of North Quincy High School, Jim has also been an active member of our Glazier’s union. Jim has served on the executive board since 1996, has served as its vice president for six years, and was just recently elected president! Congratulation on all your years of hard work!

In his free time, Jim enjoys motorcycles, boating, and fishing.

Edward Pickup - Estimator
Edward Pickup cut his first piece of glass at just 9 years of age when his father ordered him to fix the neighbors’ window that he had smashed while playing baseball. Since then, Ed has used his talents to glaze many buildings in the Boston area and beyond.
 
Born and raised in South Boston, MA, Ed attended catholic school from grades 1-5. The nuns at his grade school informed Ed’s mother that he would benefit from a trade school when he reached high school age. Ed continued on to trade school, and graduated from South Boston High School.
 
Before Ed’s debut at Hub Glass Services, Ed worked for several other glass companies where he was able to gain expertise and versatile skills working in the glass trade. Ed worked at Alliance Glass, Modern Glass, Ipswich Bay Glass, Sampson Enterprises, A & A window and Furgeson Neudorf out of Canada.
 
Ed continues to carry out his families’ legacy of working in the glass industry, his own father and two of his 5 children are also glaziers. Ed has one son that is a glazier and another son who is a Business Agent for the glaziers’ union.
 
In 2011 Ed started working at Hub Glass and in 2015 Ed was offered the role of project manager/estimator. Ed is revered as a senior glazier and a great teacher to many of the younger journeyman and apprentices.
 
Ed enjoys spending time with family, fishing, boating, and snow mobile riding. 
Dinorah Martinez, Customer Service

Dinorah Martinez, Customer Service - When you call our office, you will most likely have the pleasure of speaking with Dinorah Martinez. Dinorah handles all our phone lines as well as manages the front office, does the billing, and is our customer service extraordinaire.

Dinorah grew up in East Boston, MA, and graduated from East Boston High School in 1998. She began working at Hub Glass in September of 2009.
